What I like: The design of this taper was very well thought out right from the start. Based off the Ames brothers second generation taper design, this taper was designed to be sold, not rented. Which means, it was built to last longer while requiring less maintenance. The Blue Line Automatic Taper is a top choice among serious commercial and residential drywall contractors. That being said, it is a bit different than today's rental style taper... it's a fraction of an inch longer, and the head is pitched at a slightly different angle, which means you may have to adjust your cutting style if you are use to rental tools. Equipped with less moving this taper sees less shop repair time - about 5 to 1.

We love the design of this taper but seems like they cheapened out on durability of some of the parts. Needs to be a bit beefier to handle every day use. Otherwise its the cleanest and best..
I bought two way back and ditched my TapeTech. You have to push the old style head down the wall, lot of friction. This Premiere, Blue Line head just slides down the wall. Just steer and go. Once i got used to these I couldn't run the Tape Tech more then a half day, they are that much different in friction. The older ones did not have removable head. My current one does. Really nice to get it clean. Now i need to hook a Mark V to it so i don't have to keep going back to the pump and pail...
great taper if you dont have a garden hose to clean it
it comes apart in a snap to clean it with a scrub brush
only thing i dont like is there is no grip on the cutter tube

This taper design is essentially the Ames brothers second generation taper design. Their goal was to build a more durable taper with less moving parts making it easier to repair, easier to maintain in the field. They did such a great job that the Blue Line AT Taper sees the repair bench about 5 to 10 times less than the standard rental bazooka design. We've seen this first hand. With less parts, it's no mistake that this taper was built with one thing in mind... staying in the field, not the repair shop.
This taper is built in the U.S.A with quality. Every part is meticulously engineered using the finest materials. This Taper earns a 5 Star rating for quality. With the longest warranty in the industry, Limited Lifetime, this taper achieves a 5 star for Warranty. It's a bit pricing, but we believe you get what you pay for with this one - 4 stars. Value is a tough one... the way I see it, this is the Apple Computer of Tapers, not the PC. More people use PC's, but those who use Apple are absolute fanatics. If you can get overcome the differences between the standard taper design and this design, you will save yourself time and money in the end. If you aren't willing to change, then you will not see the value. However, most people will find this taper to be an outstanding value - 5 stars.
In time, as our rating system grows, I would expect to see many 5 star ratings across the board on this taper from Blue Line USA tool users.
